Menzoberranzan

Deep in the Underdark, the City of Spiders is an ancient drow city and the center of worship for followers of Lolth, the Spider Queen.
Life in Menzoberranzan is cruel, brutal, and often short. Thousands of years old, the city is ruled by a rigid matriarchal theocracy, and governed by a council of noble houses. Espionage, extortion, defamation, and even assassination are tools frequently employed by drow at every level of society within the city.
Exiles and expatriates from the City of Spiders often find surface-dwellers to be naive, contemptible, and weak. Life on the surface for a drow involves learning to trust, or at least to fake it.
